Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Dockit.

How are medical examiners verified?

Every examiner on Dockit undergoes a credential verification process including license validation with the relevant provincial college, professional references, and background checks before being listed on the platform.

How much does Dockit cost for clients?

It's free to create an account and browse examiners. You pay the examiner's posted hourly rate for completed work. There are no additional platform fees charged to clients.

How do I submit an IME request?

Browse examiners, select one that matches your needs, click "Submit request", and fill out the case details form. The examiner will receive your request and respond within their stated timeframe.

What happens after I submit a request?

The examiner reviews your request and either accepts, declines, or requests more information — typically within 1–3 business days. You can track the status of all your requests from your dashboard.

Is the platform secure?

Yes. All data is transmitted using TLS encryption. Case documents and health information are stored on secure Canadian servers. Dockit complies with PIPEDA and PHIPA.

What provinces are covered?

Dockit has verified examiners across all 10 Canadian provinces and 3 territories. You can filter by province and by examiners who offer virtual assessments.

Can I request a virtual assessment?

Yes — many examiners on Dockit offer virtual assessments by video call. Filter by "Virtual" when browsing to find available providers.

What is a file review?

A file review is an assessment conducted without a physical or virtual examination of the claimant. The examiner reviews submitted medical records and produces an opinion based on the documentation alone.

How are reports delivered?

Completed reports are delivered digitally through the platform. You will receive an email notification when your report is ready, and can access and download it from your dashboard.

How do I join as a medical examiner?

Create an account, select "Medical Examiner", and complete the onboarding form. Our team will verify your credentials within 1–2 business days. Once approved, you can start accepting requests.

What if I need to cancel a request?

Clients can withdraw a pending request within 48 hours of submission at no charge. After acceptance by the provider, cancellations require contacting our support team.
